Teen Shot on Metro Train; Some Red Line Trains Single-Tracking

Metro Transit Police arrested an 18-year-old accused of opening fire while on a Red Line train near Takoma, injuring his half-brother.

Brown has been charged in Montgomery County with first-degree assault.

Metro says that trains are single following between the Takoma and Silver Spring stops in light of a police examination at Takoma. Police said the video shows Brown pulling out a gun and firing multiple times. One bullet struck his half-brother while the other two struck the railcar. They exited the Metrorail system at Silver Spring Station a short time later.

The casualty was shot in the stomach, and transported to the doctor's facility, police say. He said the victim was conscious before being hospitalized.

- Metro Transit Police have taken a suspect into custody they say is connected to the shooting of a teenager at the Takoma Metro Station over the weekend.

Stessel said three suspects got off the train following the shooting and boarded a train going the opposite direction. Anyone with information on their identify or location should call the MTPD Criminal Investigations Division at 301-955-5000 or text MyMTPD (696873).
