The game will also offer higher quality textures while for those who play it on a standard 1080p screen, they will be able to enjoy improved visuals and post-effects on their PS4 Pro.

Ninja's Theory's stylish Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is out tomorrow! You're warned about this early on when you die your first painful, unavoidable death, and various aspects of the game are meant to confuse you and trick you into thinking you're safe, only to have that curse mark grow just a little bit closer to Senua's head.

In Hellblade there is a permadeath mechanic that's triggered when the rot reaches the head of the protagonist. Each time you die, her curse mark spreads.

Permadeath in Hellblade's case - even if it is a bluff - isn't just there to create a challenge for players: it also creates a connection between players and Senua.

The game has been developed by Ninja Theory with the help of mental health experts, people with personal experience of psychosis and Wellcome.

She's an unreliable narrator who hears voices and sees things that aren't real.

Ninja Theory's newest game, Hellblade, launches today. I have a feeling difficulty, game progress, and type of death play a part but there's no guarantee.

Many games have permadeath features, but they're mostly indie rogue-likes and not something of this calibre, and it's not something you often see in an action game. There's safety in checkpoints, but Hellblade doesn't want players thinking they can rely on them. Take Resident Evil 7.

Hellblade is causing quite an uproar with a permadeath mechanic that deletes your save if you die too much.
