Instagram tests letting you add a friend to your live video

Instagram is testing a new feature that lets you stream live Instagram broadcasts with a friend in split-screen mode. The latest update that is being tested out by Instagram will soon allow users to feature live conversations between two people over Instagram live videos. Co-stream, as the name implies, enables users to start a stream with another user. According to the aforementioned data set and report, the percentage of U.S. internet users who have watched live-streaming videos on YouTube dropped from 21% in June 2016 to 16% in November 2016. Be it Facebook's push towards video content or be it the trend of live videos that's caught on everywhere.

At first glance, it makes sense why Instagram would want to grow its live streaming capabilities. Your viewers can still like and comment as they follow along. Guests aren't permanent, and can be removed at any time - letting you stream with someone else instead. It is the Facebook's 2nd most popular social platform with over a hundred millions of active users. It is announced that it will be rolling this feature globally in the next few months. "Video, both live and recorded, is a key driver of growing user engagement and advertiser enthusiasm".
