HBO Hackers Leak Top Executive's Emails

The hackers claim to have taken 1.5TB of data - the equivalent to several TV series box sets or millions of documents - but HBO said that it doesn't believe its email system as a whole has been compromised, although it did acknowledge the theft of "proprietary information".

However, it does now look like at least some of the Time Warner-owned company's emails were compromised.

Emilia Clarke and Lena Headey's cell phone numbers have reportedly been leaked online by Game Of Thrones hackers as part of a multi-million dollar ransom request.

The video - which mostly consists of white text on a black background - calls for their "six-month salary in bitcoin", which turns out to be around $6 million (roughly Rs. 38.2 crores), given their claim of annual blackmail compensation as $12 million (roughly Rs. 76.5 crores).

Hackers behind the attack have now threatened to publish additional material from upcoming Game Of Thrones episode today, Sunday August 6th. "Leakage will be your worst nightmare".

Following the airing of the fourth episode, the group released the scripts of the first four episodes of the season, along with one for the unaired fifth episode.

According to Wired, the latest leak was watermarked with "HBO is Falling" which also included emails, financial balance sheets, employment agreements along with a ransom note detailing their motives.

In that attack, hackers unearthed thousands of embarrassing emails and released personal information, including salaries and social security numbers, of almost 50,000 current and former Sony employees.

Hackers have given the deadline of three days to make the payment.

Adding, "We continue to work around the clock with outside cybersecurity firms and law enforcement to resolve the incident". They don't have any political goals, they said, and "money isn't [their] main objective".

The letter said HBO was the 17th target for the hacking group and that "only 3 of our past targets refused to pay and were punished very badly and 2 of them collapsed entirely". He declined to comment further or address the hackers' ransom demands. We don't want to endanger HBO's situation nor cause it to lose its reputation.
