North Korea Says Seriously Considering Plan to Strike Guam

Trump on Tuesday threatened "fire and fury" if North Korea made more threats to the U.S. And North Korea's military said it was examining plans for attacking Guam.
These would include US Navy ships and submarines armed with cruise missiles, plus Air Force bombers that could operate out of bases in Japan or Guam, he said.
"It is alarming the casualness with which President Trump shares classifieds information", Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu of California told CNN's Poppy Harlow Tuesday.
China will pay the biggest price from the new United Nations sanctions against North Korea because of its close economic relationship with the country, but will always enforce the resolutions, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.
But the President was having none of that, as he told reporters from his New Jersey golf retreat that the repeated threats by Pyongyang could spur him to act.
In another statement citing a different military spokesman, North Korea also accused the United States of devising a "preventive war" and said any plans to execute this would be met with an "all-out war wiping out all the strongholds of enemies, including the USA mainland".
"In the morning of August 8 the air pirates of Guam again appeared in the sky above South Korea to stage a mad-cap drill simulating an actual war", the North Korean spokesperson added, accusing Washington of mobilizing strategic nuclear assets from Guam or California.
"Slow down, think strategy Mr. President", said John McLaughlin, the CIA Director under President Obama.
Tensions in the region have risen since North Korea carried out two nuclear bomb tests past year and two ICBM tests in July.
No one has come up with the answer as yet.
Officials at the agency would not comment Tuesday on the report. He voiced his hope North Korea would "choose a different pathway", one leading to a dialogue.
China has repeatedly said it is committed to enforcing increasingly tough United Nations resolutions on North Korea, though it has also said what it terms "normal" trade and ordinary North Koreans should not be affected. This deals with the remarkable speed with which Trump fully accepted and responded to, in highly dramatic fashion, the news that North Korea has supposedly significantly expanded its nuclear capabilities. He noted, however, that Trump's remarks could be pivotal in escalating a confrontation with North Korea, which could ultimately endanger South Korea in what he said could be a catastrophic scenario.
However, Zeldin also said that reporting of the development "increases the urgency of the time sensitivity" of efforts being taken by the USA and its global partners to address North Korea's missile and nuclear programs diplomatically. But he added: "Hopefully we will never have to use this power".
CNN and The Washington Post reported Tuesday that U.S. intelligence analysts have assessed that North Korea has produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead, according to multiple sources familiar with the analysis of North Korea's missile and nuclear program. The State Department declined to comment citing "intelligence matters".
Belief that North Korea is capable of launching a missile that could hit the United States has grown since 2009.
Wang said that apart from the new sanctions, the resolution also made clear that the six party talks process, a stalled dialogue mechanism with North Korea that also includes Russian Federation and Japan, should be restarted.
According to a new CBS News poll only a third of those surveyed having confidence in Trump's ability to handle the situation with North Korea.
Tens of thousands of US troops remain stationed in South Korea and in nearby Japan, the only country to have been attacked with nuclear weapons.
As well as that, he said he expects U.S. diplomats to be more visible, including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who has been visiting countries in Southeast Asia this week.
