Brooks said Wednesday that he's more aligned with Trump's agenda than odd, the candidate of a Washington "swamp" establishment who gets his support from a super political action committee tied to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Brooks accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Wednesday of misleading Trump to believe that odd is the better candidate for the job.

Brooks said he, and not odd, supports changing the Senate filibuster rules Democrats are using to kill Republican proposals.

Others competing for the GOP nomination include Roy Moore, the former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. There will be a runoff on September 26 if no candidate gets over 50 percent of the vote.
