DOJ Document Dump to ACLJ on Clinton Lynch Meeting: Comey FBI Lied, Media Collusion, Spin, and Illegality
When former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and President Bill Clinton were busted secretly meeting aboard Lynch's private plane last summer by a local television reporter, a number of government watchdog groups filed lawsuits for documents surrounding the meeting.
Emails obtained by the American Center for Law and Justice show that reporters at the New York Times and the Washington Post told the Department of Justice's director of public affairs at the time, Melanie Newman, that while they were writing stories on the controversy, their editors were making them do it.
The discovery of the email alias involving Lynch is now spurring other Freedom of Information Act requests, which could well uncover other emails - and department business - that was conducted by Lynch during her time as Attorney General.
Jay Sekulow, an attorney for President Trump and chief counsel for the ACLJ, said the documents also show that there were email exchanges between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the DOJ, and the DOJ and the White House, regarding the controversial meeting.
The initial response to reporters from the Justice Department press office was to simply send a transcript of Lynch's response to a question about the meeting, during an event she held in Phoenix.
The same set of Justice Department documents revealed that Ms. "At the FBI, at least to the chief of staff to [then-FBI Director] James Comey", Sekulow said. Lynch's impartiality. Mr. Comey said that was one reason why he took it upon himself to buck Justice Department tradition and reveal his findings about Mrs. Clinton in the midst of last year's chaotic presidential election.
Sekulow said the ACLJ will go back to court for the redacted talking points, and said its investigation into the communications has just begun. He pointed out that Herwig is now a top attorney for Democrats in the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is currently investigating Lynch.
"We've also learned and again we're analyzing a lot of information here trying to check out who the people are on these emails", said Sekulow.
