UCLA Quarterback Josh Rosen

Josh Rosen blasts critics who question his love of the game

UCLA QB takes a jab at Clemson's academics

There's no other way. "Then there's the other side that says raise the SAT eligibility requirements", Rosen said. You lose athletes and then the product on the field suffers.

Rosen sat down with Bleacher Report recently and shared his honest thoughts on several subjects including how hard it is for him to juggle playing football and trying to get his MBA.

The junior QB told Bleacher Report that he felt football and school conflicted with each other and cited an instance with the scheduling of a class he needed for his major as a reason why.

"I respect the honesty of Rosen about being a football player, but there are some partial truths to his statement".

The follow up question was, "Wait, some players shouldn't be in school?" So while a collegiate athlete signs a letter of intent setting in stone their four year commitment to the school, the college can get out of their deal after only one.

The quarterback was then asked how it was possible players like former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, were able to graduate college in three years. "Oh wow, he must be Doogie Howser or something!"

In case you missed it, here's a look at Rosen's comments that were scrutinized on Tuesday, in part because of his use of Alabama as an example when offering a hypothetical about raising SAT requirements. He's a bright dude who has a clear awareness of how the machine operates and his place within it, and he's already planning for his life beyond the sport. "People need to learn to accept that".

"I think it's unfortunate that any player doesn't realize the megaphone that they have..."

"I think that's a little piece that's missing", George said. They, too, can and should be assisted, elevated, and publicized like the small percentage of the players that are more than just eligible.

You can hear the contempt in Shaw's words. For context, the UCLA football program had an Academic Progress Rate (APR) of 971 past year, which was good enough to earn Mora a $70,000 bonus. "We ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS".

Sam Darnold is boring. "We're moving forward and we're getting ready for the season". Southern Cal's redshirt sophomore quarterback doesn't tweet. He won't bash UCLA's Josh Rosen or promise a national championship. Mora said he had an honest discussion with Rosen after the interview was published, but at the same time, he tried to downplay the controversy about his star quarterback's remarks. He's coming into his own physically and mentally, and this season could be a big time breakout year for him.
