According to reports, Everton star Wayne Rooney has met with his club's manager Ronald Koeman for the first time since his drink-driving offence which took place during the weekend.

And speaking ahead of the match with Tottenham, Everton boss Koeman said he was "very disappointed" with Rooney but also confirmed that he will feature at Goodison Park.

The footballer was pulled over in Wilmslow, Cheshire, at 2am on Friday, and was later charged with drink-driving.

Reading a short prepared statement before his pre-Tottenham press conference at Finch Farm on Thursday afternoon, Koeman said: "Obviously I am very disappointed by the situation regarding Wayne Rooney". "We have spoken on Tuesday and the chairman Bill Kenwright spoke also to..."

The 23-year-old, now sidelined by a grade three hamstring tear likely to keep him out until November at the earliest, pulled out of the move at the last minute on deadline day despite travelling to London. The Senegalese worldwide has made just seven senior appearances for Everton since being brought to Merseyside from Lokomotiv Moscow by Roberto Martinez in February 2016 and spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City after being completely frozen out by Koeman. "That is a private talk with Ross and I am not the right man to explain the reason for that decision".

Koeman added: "He will play this Saturday yes".

'But she can't blame him for anything that happened with me because nothing did really although we would have ended up shagging no doubt.

"Last season was a different season; maybe we had other strikers so we found it hard to find a position for him".

"He's told her he is willing to stop going out if that means she will stay with him". "His attitude has been flawless and he needs to fight like all of the other players".
