Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson

Pete and Ike preview UFC 215, which is flying under the radar, though two title fights headline a surprisingly talent-rich card.

Almost two months to the day, Nunes is back in the main event of UFC 215 Saturday in Edmonton, Canada, as news broke Thursday night that flyweight title contender Ray Borg has withdrawn from his planned headline fight against champion Demetrious Johnson. That fight was originally scheduled for this past summer, but had to be postponed due to a late pullout by Nunes due to complications from sinusitis. The UFC has not rescheduled the bout as of now.

UFC 215's main event from Edmonton, Alberta, will now be the women's bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko.

Both Johnson and Anderson Silva have 10 consecutive UFC defences, and Johnson AKA Mighty Mouse had hoped to break that record with a win this weekend, becoming the longest continuous reigning champion in the sport in the process. "My money is going to be the same", Nunes said.

In the meantime, the second fight between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko is bumped up to headline the card. She'll need to do a better job of keeping the fight standing, something that cost her in the first fight. There are a lot of champions who get the belt and are unbeatable and next thing you know, they get beat. Instead, the fight's cancellation is just another in what has been a bad-luck calendar year for UFC coming off of a record-breaking 2016 campaign, which saw the company change owners following a much-publicized $4 billion sale. As of right now UFC 215 will be moving forward with 11 fights set for this card.
