The device is expected to launch alongside 2 other models that will feature nearly the same design as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus but with improved internals and glass shells instead of aluminum. According to the report, the "iPhone 8" is actually Apple's name for its iPhone 7 successor, not the completely redesigned iPhone we've been seeing so much of over the past few months.
In terms of specifications, the iPhone X is to be a premium version with an all-new design, OLED screen, improved cameras, and a 3D facial recognition scanner for unlocking the device. The HomePod firmware also revealed that the rear front facing cameras will record 4K videos at 60 FPS.
As the entire world already knows by now, Apple is scheduled to officially unveil iPhone 8 on September 12.
Apple's Home Button hasn't only served the goal of a fingerprint scanner, but also adds more uses like accessing multitasking menu and activating Siri.
Face ID appears to be the official marketing name for what's been referenced as Pearl ID, the facial recognition features that will likely replace the Touch ID fingerprint recognition feature.
Remember, the iPhone 8 will also provide support for wireless charging, but with Apple selling the accessory separately and with no headphone jack present, a customer will have to pay upwards of $1,000 just to get a phone working with various accessories.
Bernstein analyst Tony Sacconaghi said that if Apple iPhone 8 will face delays then it will hurt Apple.
He also shared video of the status bar animating when plugged in to charge. Usually, shipping of iPhones start 10 days after its launch, but in this case, it is expected to go pre-bookings from September 15 in U.S., and later in India. The launch event will be held at the Steve Jobs Theatre inside Apple's new campus in Cupertino.
Earlier tonight we saw what appears to be the LTE Apple Watch with a new watch face and Digital Crown, and now we have a watchOS screenshot of Control Center with a cellular signal indicator and the "notch" OLED iPhone. At the same time, these instructions underscore the design changes Apple is making to the iPhone 8's display-notice the thin bezels and lack of a physical home button. Apple will call the enhancement Face ID, according to the code.
