The Union Home Minister also visited the Jammu and Kashmir Police Lines and CRPF camp in Anantnag district today.

"But there are some militants, who only want militancy and nothing else", Singh said exuding confidence in cops, "(they) call for Jihad for Jannah (heaven)".

During the four day visit to Jammu and Kashmir Home Minister Rajnath Singh while addressing CRPF personnel and Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday in Anantnag said that he has bullet proof vehicles at police stations in the state. "Mr Rajnath Singh, who never used to spare four-hours from his busy schedule but after our programme, he too planned immediately to rush to Jammu and Kashmir but it will not have any impact".

The resistance leaders in a statement issued in Srinagar said: "The strike is being observed by the people of Kashmir to prove to the world community and the Indian leadership that genuine people's movement in Kashmir can not be crushed by using military might or harassing the leadership".

The group would interact with the senior party leaders in the executive meeting.

Omar also highlighted the "worsened and constantly deteriorating situation" in the valley. "The PMDP which envisages a developmental and infrastructural revolution in the State is the biggest financial package for J&K so far", the government spokesman said. He said it will create jobs for the people of J&K.

He asked the central government to take all possible measures to ensure a reasonable airfare policy for such hilly areas. Yesterday, Shri Rajnath Singh had held discussions with as many as 33 civil society delegations comprising more than 200 members representing traders, tour operators, farmers, youth associations and other groups.

The home minister also had meeting with leaders and representatives of various political, social and trade organisations to know their views on the issues confronting the state.
