Citing London terrorist attack, Trump calls for expansion of his travel ban

On Monday, Trump's administration scored a key legal victory related to his travel ban when the Supreme Court granted a temporary stay of the ban's effect on a group of around 24,000 refugees.

PM rebukes Trump over "unhelpful" London bomb claim tweetThere are a total of more than 12,000 cameras across London Underground's stations and trains. Trump's words came hours after his Friday morning tweet, which called the explosion another attack "by a loser terrorist".

Trump then added, "The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific-but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!"

"I never think it's helpful for anybody to speculate on what is an ongoing investigation", she said.

"As I have just said, the police and security services are working to discover the full circumstances of this cowardly attack and to identify all those responsible".

True or not - and I'm sure he doesn't know - this is so unhelpful from leader of our ally and intelligence partner.

"I want to say that our hearts and prayers go out to the people of London who suffered a vicious terrorist attack", he said.

Security services told the Independent: "We don't even know who the suspects are so it's a bit hard to say".

As a presidential candidate, Trump had proposed a blanket ban on all Muslims from entering the U.S. after the 2015 San Bernardino terrorist attack.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan criticized Trump for the tweets and called on the British government to rescind an invitation for the president to visit the country.

"The internet is their main recruitment tool which we must cut off & use better!" he added, also giving no details.

A Downing Street spokesman said he also offered "his condolences over this morning's cowardly attack in London", which he described to reporters earlier as "a bad thing".

The President did share highly classified intelligence about suspected IS plans, until then closely guarded among USA allies, with the Russian foreign minister during a meeting at the White House.

Trump's tweet seemed to envision such a "larger, tougher" ban, though he also said the measure needed to be "more specific" - which might indicate the White House is not inclined to bar people merely due to their nationality.
