Mobile to bump monthly unlimited throttling limit to 50GB (from 32GB)

T-Mobile to reportedly increase deprioritization threshold to 50GB
By Ida Torres
"When T-Mobile customers who use the most data hit these prioritization points during the month, they get in line behind other customers who have used less data and may experience reduced speeds", the company explained.
While we don't have all the details just yet, it's clear that T-Mobile is trying to move as many of its legacy customers over to T-Mobile ONE as quickly as possible.
To make matters worse, many of these plans have additional caveats. Competitors AT&T and Verizon now have a 22GB threshold, so even if this news isn't true, T-Mobile still has an advantage over the other carriers. Throttling only happens when you've gone over the limit and there is network congestion in your area. Once you enter a new billing cycle, your usage resets and your data usage will stop being deprioritized until you hit 50GB in a single cycle again.
Even though T-Mobile had by far the highest monthly unlimited throttling limit (32GB), the Magenta does not want to offer competition even the slightest chance to match its services. Oh, there are still limits, of course, but Tmo isn't alone there.
The new 50GB prioritization point goes into effect starting tomorrow for T-Mobile customers on unlimited data plans. In comparison, Verizon and AT&T have 22GB caps, while Sprint's is 23GB.
It's good to see that T-Mobile is continuing to be a disruptive force in the U.S. telecommunications industry.
