Jose is a hurricane again, storm watch possible for NC coast

Hurricane Jose ambles toward US, unlikely to make landfall

Hurricane Jose strengthens slightly 500 miles south of Bermuda: NHC

The Tropics continue to stay very active, as Tropical Storms Lee and Maria join Hurricane Jose as active tropical systems in the Atlantic basin.

Norma had winds of about 50 mph (85 kph) and it was centered about 140 miles (225 kilometers) south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas.

Tropical Storm Lee formed Saturday but weakened to a tropical depression Sunday morning.

Jose has maximum sustained winds of 90 mph and is located 305 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, NC, moving north at 9 mph.

Jose re-strengthened from a tropical storm to a Category 1 hurricane this afternoon and could potentially bring Nor'easter-like conditions to NY and Boston next week.

Hurricane Jose continues to churn in the eastern Atlantic, creating risky surf and rip currents along the Treasure and Space Coasts.

Through Wednesday. unsafe Maria will, sadly, directly affect numerous same Caribbean Islands that Hurricanes Irma and Jose disrupted and / or devastated in recent weeks.

"While the exact strength and track of the storm remain uncertain, there is a low chance for strong gusty winds and heavy rain Tuesday into Wednesday". Antigua and Barbuda are in a hurricane watch, issued by their local governments; 95% of the structures and homes on Barbuda were completely destroyed by Irma and the island residents were evacuated to temporary shelters last week on Antigua. These islands are still recovering from Hurricane Irma, which hit just over a week ago.

Out of the two remaining tropical systems to talk about, Tropical Storm Maria is the most favorable for significant additional development and impacts with land. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for St. Lucia, Martinique and Guadeloupe, Dominica, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Because it acquired named-storm status, it keeps the name tropical depression Lee. The storm is forecast to become a tropical storm again by next Tuesday. Unfortunately, this looks like it could be another very risky hurricane for parts of the Lesser Antilles, U.S. and British Virgin islands, and Puerto Rico.

Jose's maximum sustained winds have decreased to about 85 miles per hour, the NHC said.

Then as Jose gets closer to the Northeast it should take a turn to the east as a tough will dig over the northeast steering the storm away from the United States.
