Director James Toback Accused Of Sexual Harassment By 38 Women – Report
Now, 38 women have come forward to accuse Oscar nominated writer-director James Toback of sexual harassment-most of them going on the record to describe a pattern of encounters that involve Toback allegedly offering parts in his movies, asking them intrusive questions, and inviting them to secluded places to ask for sexual favors. According to the women, Toback used his position in Hollywood to set up meetings that "quickly turned sexual".
In several of the cases, Toback rubbed his genitals on the victims, then ejaculating either in his trousers, or on them. Weinstein was ultimately fired from his own company after the New York Times revealed he paid off at least eight women, including Rose McGowan. He also argued that it would be "biologically impossible" to perform behaviors he is accused of because of diabetes and a coronary condition that has been suffering for 22 years. Toback is also credited with writing and directing "Fingers" in 1978, starring Harvey Keitel and "The Pick-up Artist" in 1987 starring Robert Downey Jr., and Dennis Hopper. They include Louise Post, guitarist and vocalist for the band Veruca Salt and Terri Conn from the television soap opera As the World Turns.
The director's reputation was so well known among some Hollywood women that one accuser said "getting Toback-ed" became code for any sexual abuse "by a creepy writer-director". "I felt like a prostitute, an utter disappointment to myself, my parents, my friends".
"He told me he'd love nothing more than to masturbate while looking into my eyes", Post said. And I didn't deserve to talk to anyone, " said the american actress, Adrienne LaValley after an episode dating back to 2008, during which James Toback is rubbed with it before cumming, she testified.
Toback, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1991 for Warren Beatty starrer "Bugsy", denied the accusations, saying he never met any of the women mentioned in the report.
"And the awful thing is, whichever road you choose, whether you sleep with him or walk away, you're still broken, You have been violated", added Rinaldi.
The women Toback targeted ranged from aspiring actresses, women in the industry to people on the streets. "That's the whole point of this exercise", she says Toback told her.
Toback's alleged sexual behavior was far from secret. "I am really uncomfortable", she replied. Eight of the 12 movies Toback has directed were released after the Spy article; two were released after the Gawker articles.
