Veteran Political Journalist Mark Halperin Accused Of Sexual Harassment By Five Women

HBO drops new 'Game Change' over Halperin's alleged sexual harassment

HBO has chose to not move forward with an upcoming miniseries based partially on an upcoming book by political journalist Mark Halperin, who has been accused of sexually harassment by five women. "Mark Halperin is leaving his role as a contributor until the questions around his past conduct are fully understood".

But Halperin, who is married to Karen Avrich, denied grabbing a woman's breasts and pressing his genitals against the three women. Following the news, other women also revealed similar experiences.

"Mark left ABC News over a decade ago, and no complaints were filed during his tenure", ABC News told CNN.

A fourth woman who worked with Halperin told CNN that he asked her late at night on the campaign trail to go up to his hotel room with him, and that she believed him to be propositioning her. Since that story came out, other women have come forward to accuse Halperin of sexual misconduct and it has been noted that Halperin's behavior was an "open secret" in the industry. The women who spoke to CNN said it was for this reason that they shared their accounts on the condition of anonymity. But he also admitted on Wednesday that the women's allegations caused him to realize that his behavior was inappropriate.

"During this period, I did pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me".

Currently, Mark Halperin works as an analyst for NBC News, where he makes frequent appearances on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and is featured in Showtime's "The Circus".

Halperin's bestselling book about the 2008 election, "Game Change", was adapted by HBO into a film starring Julianne Moore and Ed Harris. "Under the circumstances, I'm going to take a step back from my day-to-day work while I properly deal with this situation", he added.

Multiple women accused Halperin of inappropriate behavior in a CNN story this week, and subsequent allegations have emerged since the story broke. I'm sure we will be talking about it again when we know more about it.
