76ers' rookie Fultz (shoulder) out indefinitely
"Following consultation with several shoulder specialists, including a visit with Dr". Ben Kliber, and will be re-evaluated in three more weeks.
Fultz, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2017 National Basketball Association draft, has been bothered by the injury and even changed the mechanics of his free-throw shooting due to the issue. His right shoulder has been sore for a while now and upon examination, it was revealed that Fultz has a muscle imbalance. Originally reported that Fultz was going to miss the Texas road trip in three straight games, he will now be out "indefinitely" with his shoulder injury, with no structural damage. Philadelphia has a history of redshirting its rookies due to injury.
The biggest concern to this point has been his altered shooting stroke, which has led to just a 33.3 field-goal percentage to go with 50 percent from the free-throw line.
On Oct. 25, in the wake of his agent saying that Fultz recently had a cortisone shot to relieve pain in his shoulder, the Sixersannounced their prized rookie would miss the next three games.
People close to Fultz, including his personal trainer, say Fultz changed his shot because of the discomfort in his shoulder.
The 76ers traded with the Boston Celtics to get the overall No. 1 pick and draft Fultz.
Fultz started the season playing and in the rotation as one of the first players off the bench. Philadelphia felt Fultz, with his outside shooting ability, was the ideal player to pair with Simons in the backcourt.
