Ezekiel Elliott Ineligible to Play Sunday After Losing Appeal
10 November 2017, 12:50 | Ken Black
Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott to begin six-game suspension, will not play vs. Falcons
Ezekiel Elliott skipped his weekly media session because of more legal limbo in the star Dallas Cowboys running back's fight over the NFL's six-game suspension on alleged domestic violence.
But as of this moment, Elliott will not be allowed to play in the 5-3 Cowboys' game against the Falcons on Sunday. In that case, Elliott would miss the Cowboys' home game against the Eagles on November 19 and would be eligible to return for the season finale, a December 31 game at Philadelphia.
With Ezekiel Elliott presumably out, the Dallas Cowboys will turn to running backs Alfred Morris, Darren McFadden and Rod Smith to carry the load and replace Elliott's heavy production.
Elliott and the NFLPA next can appeal to the full appeals court and then to the U.S. Supreme Court, if they choose. As it stands now, Zeke would not be eligible to return to the field for the Cowboys until their December 24th matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
The NFLPA has argued a suspension would irreparably harm Elliott's career.
Elliott has been embroiled in a legal saga with the National Football League after being issued a six-game suspension following a 13-month investigation into a domestic violence allegation in 2016. Elliott denied the allegations under oath during his National Football League appeal.
