DC Comics announced that they are suspending Eddie Berganza, one of their veteran comic book editors, who is now facing accusations of sexual harassment from several women.

Warner Bros and DC Entertainment have fired DC Comics Group Editor Eddie Berganza after investigating sexual assault claims against him.

Berganza started work for DC in 1992 and worked on numerous high-profile comics, including the recent Dark Nights: Metal.

As recently 2012, DC was noted to have reprimanded Berganza with wrist-slap punishments like a slight demotion (from executive editor down to group editor).

On Monday morning, author and comic book writer Marjorie Liu took to Twitter to share that she had "lost count of how many times [she] explicitly told DC editorial that [she] wouldn't write for them because of Berganza".

Within comics culture, Berganza's alleged behavior has for years been an open secret, the subject of blunt gossip and open speculation.

While Berganza's name was initially kept away from the article, the site corroborated his identity in a later article. And then in 2010, former DC editor Janelle Asselin organized a group of employees to file a joint complaint to HR about Berganza. Cartoonist Joan Hilty also said Berganza kissed and groped her at the same bar in the early 2000s.

DC Comics has terminated editor Eddie Berganza following allegations of sexual harassment. Rumors of harassment had long followed Berganza.

"By the time I left", Marsham said of her time at DC Comics, "I was really demoralized".

The women in BuzzFeed's report all emphasize the competitive nature of the comics industry, where legions of fans dream of working at Marvel and DC, as contributing to the pressure they felt to stay silent.

In response to this news DC said in a statement: 'DC and Warner Bros are unequivocally committed to cultivating a work environment of dignity and respect, one that is safe and harassment free for all employees'.

DC Comics launched a review and suspended Berganza on Saturday before firing him today.

Dark Knights: Metal is now unfolding in DC Comics; DC Entertainment will release Justice League in theaters on November 17th.
