Mother's boyfriend is arrested in connection to disappearance of 3-year-old Mariah Woods and police believe she is dead

Earl Kimrey, 32, was taken into custody Friday, investigators say.

Investigators in North Carolina have made arrest in the disappearance of 3-year-old Mariah Woods and investigators believe she is dead.

The arrest warrant issued for Kimrey said he obstructed justice by "removing Mariah Woods' body from the scene of her death and did hide Mariah Woods' death and body, knowing that Mariah Woods died from unnatural causes".

Kristy called police to report her missing on Monday at 6am.

The 32-year-old man was taken before a state magistrate and charged with concealing of death, Obstruction of Justice, Second Degree Burglary, Felony Larceny and Possession of Stolen Property.

He was being held in the Onslow County Detention Center with bail set at $1,010,000. Authorities also said additional charges could be pending as the investigation progresses.

In all, 730 volunteers joined law enforcement personnel in the search on Friday.

The girl is shy and has an orthopedic leg problem, her grandmother said, according to CBS News.

Alex Woods, Mariah's biological father, told WCTI that he had suspicions about the story of her disappearance.

Searchers targeted a creek and a landfill in their effort to find a 3-year-old North Carolina girl missing since the start of the week. The FBI said Thursday that it is testing "items of interest" at its lab in Quantico, Virginia.

Miller said that the outpouring of support from the community has been "overwhelming" and asked that residents continue to support each other "as we all grieve the life of this little girl and still focus on finding her". "Someone just walked right up in there, grabbed the 3-year-old out of the bed, and she didn't cry, she didn't scream?" he said.

FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Stanley Meador said authorities spent days searching by foot, boat and in the water for any leads. Earlier Wednesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released surveillance photos of a woman and a little girl who matched Mariah's description, in hopes of identifying the pair.

Mariah Woods is described as a white female with brown hair and blue eyes, about 2-foot-9 weighing about 30 pounds. "She's my baby. She's my everything".
