Anthony Davis fined $25K following first career ejection

With the Pelicans awaiting further word on Davis' left pelvis injury, New Orleans improved to 2-0 this season in games with Davis sidelined, including the Week 2 comeback win at Sacramento on TNT. The New Orleans Pelicans' superstar suffered a non-contact injury during the team's game against the Utah Jazz, which left him rolling around on the ground in serious pain.

Davis was battling with Utah's Derrick Favors under the basket early in the fourth quarter when he crumpled to the ground.

Davis has a long history of injuries, but he played 75 games last season while staying relatively healthy.

None of those issues proved all that serious, but the accumulation of wear and tear after failing to suit up in at least 70 games during four of his first five National Basketball Association reasons hasn't been particularly encouraging.

Earlier in the day, Davis was assessed a $25,000 fine by the National Basketball Association for his actions during the Pelicans' Wednesday night home loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
