North Korea: US 'begging' for war with 'largest ever' joint aerial drill
Tensions were on the rise Sunday ahead of the largest ever U.S.
The 5-day drill, dubbed Vigilant Ace, will involve more than 230 warplanes from both sides, including 6 U.S. F-22 Raptors, and 6 F-35s - some of the air forces' most advanced fighter jets.
The North's ruling party Rodong newspaper slammed the upcoming drill.
"It is an open, all-out provocation against the DPRK, which may lead to a nuclear war any moment", it said in an editorial on Sunday, using the North's official name.
Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday that he believes it's time to start moving the families of American military personnel out of South Korea as North Korea pushes the US closer to a military conflict.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has accused late Saturday U.S. President Donald Trump of "begging for nuclear war" by staging "extremely dangerous" military drills on the Korean Peninsula and simulating real-scenario-attacks upon DPRK.
After this week's launch, a North Korean official told CNN Pyongyang was not interested in diplomacy with the U.S. until it had fully demonstrated its nuclear deterrent capabilities.
"I think it's increasing every day, which means that.we are in a race to be able to solve this problem", he said at a forum on Saturday.
"But what we want to do is convince others, it is in their interest to do more", McMaster said. "I don't think anybody likes a military solution. It's something that places us at direct risk but places the world at risk". North Korea conducted its sixth nuclear test at the site on September 3.
Graham said he has had extensive discussions with the Trump administration about the situation.
Mr Kim's factory visit saw him thank workers who had built the tyres for the huge vehicle used to transport the tested Hwasong-15 missile this week, which had prompted a public rally and fireworks in Pyongyang as the country continued to flout global sanctions. "Not to contain it".
Agencies who have to execute those policies, and we've done that, and with all that time we've saved mulling about tactical details we've established a very strong foundation, the foundation of strategy clearly articulated objectives for the main national security challenges we're facing now. "The Chinese are trying, but ineffectively", he said.
