Android Oreo 8.1 breaks multi-touch on some devices

Smartphones running Android Marshmallow and Nougat received Google Assistant support in February.

Now the Assistant is coming to even more Android devices.

The app description on Play Store states, "Google Maps Go, the lighter version of the original Google Maps app". While Google is still managing the chaotic Android fragmentation, it will bring Assistant to smartphones with older aging software.

"It has started to roll out to users with the language set to English in India, the US, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and Singapore, as well as in Spanish in the US, Mexico and Spain", Maksim Mukha, Programme Manager, Google Assistant, said in a statement.

It's also rolling out to devices in Italy, Japan, Germany, Brazil, and Korea.

Meanwhile, at the Google for India event earlier, Google VP of Engineering Shashidhar Thakur had stated that the prime aim of developing Google Go was to help new smartphone users "come on the Internet", and at the same time help them access the Web easily. Users can also search and find information about millions of places, such as phone numbers and addresses.

Google is upping the photography experience on smartphone with the launch of not just one, but three new apps. While Storyboard and Scrubbies will be limited to Android and iOS users respectively, the Selfissimo! app will be made available on both platforms.
