Amazon Brings Web Browsing to Fire TV - Amazon - Press Room - Press Release
The past months have seen a push and pull between the two, with Google pulling out YouTube from the Amazon Echo Show and Amazon refusing to sell Chromecast media streamers since Amazon Prime Video isn't available in them and it might cause "confusion" with their customers. The information has come from a filing found at the USPTO via The Verge showing that Amazon has filed for a trademark of the name AmazonTube. Google, on the other hand, decides to pull the plug on YouTube for AmazonFire TC and Echo Show. Although the trademarks don't necessarily mean the company plans to launch a new service, it does suggest that the company may be, at the very least, considering doing so. Also, this is not the first time Amazon has been reportedly working on a premium video service.
Another bone of contention between Google and Amazon is the latter's reluctance to comply with cast technology, the same that powers Google's Chromecast devices. Earlier, Amazon chose to stop selling Chromecast and Nest devices on its portal. Such works could include, according to the filings, photos, videos, text, images, documents, or books. Firefox was in news recently after it claimed to have launched the fastest browser (here is our review.) A small detail in the blog also said that the Firefox can be used to launch popular video websites on Fire TV and Fire TV Stick.
Amazon has a long ways to go as Google's YouTube has almost four times as many monthly active users as Amazon. In retaliation, Google has prevented any official YouTube app - or Google app, for that matter - from making its way to Amazon's Appstore, though that has been the case for a long time.
Perhaps. Amazon is hardly starved for video content: The company already has a solid foothold in the video streaming space with its Amazon Video service.
Sound familiar? Let's be honest: We all know what's going on here.
Amazon's Silk browser was made available for some Fire TV users, back in November, under a silent release.
This can quickly be done through the use of the Fire TV report as well.
