You know how this is going to end: Harrison, in red, white, and blue, reveling as the Steelers succumb in the AFC Championship and the Patriots march onward to yet another Super Bowl.

Well, well, well, the New England Patriots have signed another discarded veteran.

ESPN's Field Yates reports that the 39-year-old free agent was at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday for a meeting. He played a backup role at outside linebacker this season. The Patriots always seem to find these types of players. He led the team with five sacks last season.

It looks like the Patriots have a new pass rusher. Harrison has recorded 788 tackles, 82.5 sacks and eight interceptions in his 14-year career. He did not get into the game in the Week 15 classic between the Pats and Steelers. Harrison also came up big in the Steelers' past two playoff runs with multiple sacks. Still, the Patriots will benefit from his addition with a need for big bodies up front.

Recent New England Patriots news involves some potential roster decisions. However, it might be hard to compete with the Patriots who have a number of Super Bowl trophies at which they can point for proof positive that Harrison's likely goal of another championship is best pursued in Foxborough. Don't be surprised if he plays very few snaps, but is gunning for the quarterback on every single play that he's on the field.
