Hafiz Saeed attacks India after United States suspends military aid to Pakistan

Pakistan rejects Donald Trump's US aid claim

"The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools", Trump wrote on Monday.

Defence Minister Khurram Dastagir, in response to US President Donald Trump's tweet, has said that Pakistan is fully capable of defending its motherland.

News agency ANI quoted Baloch Republican Party's leader Abdul Nawaz Bugti as saying that Trump's statement on aid to Pakistan is a "positive developmet".

Islamabad has repeatedly denied the accusations of turning a blind eye to militancy, lambasting the United States for ignoring the thousands who have been killed on its soil and the billions spent fighting extremists.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja dismissed Trump's comments as a political stunt borne out of frustration over US failures in Afghanistan, where Afghan Taliban militants have been gaining territory and carrying out major attacks.

Balochistan is the largest province in Pakistan, but remains least developed. He added that USA operations in Afghanistan were being affected because Islamabad provided "safe haven" to terrorists.

Washington and Kabul have long accused Islamabad of supporting militant groups including the Taliban, believed to have links to Pakistan's shadowy military establishment who aim to use them as a regional bulwark against arch-nemesis India.

"We have already refused to the United States mantra of "do more" for it (US). They overlook cross-border safe havens of terrorists who murder Pakistanis", the Pakistan defence ministry said in a tweet.

Amid global backlash and US' decision to snap its $255 million military aid to Pakistan for now, Jamaat-ud Dawa head and 2008 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed launched an attack on New Delhi on Tuesday. However, the report said, the tweet was not out of the blue, as it was only the "latest lowlight in the tailspin that the US-Pakistan relationship has been caught in since August".

"As the President said, so I say now: Pakistan has much to gain from partnering with the United States, and Pakistan has much to lose by continuing to harbor criminals and terrorists", he added.

It called Donald Trump's statement "provocative" and added that "Pakistan had made it clear the country was not prepared to take dictation from anyone anymore".
