The Blues have reportedly re-opened talks over a move for Barkley, but Everton are yet to agree.

Rumors of a renewed Chelsea bid for Ross Barkley, who's contract is expiring in six months, have persisted ever since the Everton midfielder rejected a chance to complete a move to Stamford Bridge in the waning hours of the summer transfer window. According to reports from the Telegraph, the Blues submitted a deal late last night, in a hurry to rush things.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce appears to have confirmed Barkley is on his way out of Goodison Park as a decision was made before he took over at the club.

"I think the club was resigned before I got here that they were going to lose Ross". The prolific playmaker for the Toffees is yet to play his first game in the Premier League after recovering from hamstring surgery which was followed by another injury during training. "I can't see that changing".

Tottenham have also been chasing Barkley since the summer, but chairman Daniel Levy had hoped to set up a deal to sign the 24-year-old on a free transfer at the end of the season when his Everton contract expires.

With Antonio Conte frustrated with the Chelsea board, after not getting the targets he wanted including watching Tottenham steal Fernando Llorente on deadline day from under their noses, Romelu Lukaku chose to go to Manchester United instead.
