President Trump Announces Delay of Fake News Awards

The Daily Show Launchs Campaign for Trump's Dishonest Media Awards With Full Page Print Ad

On Sunday, Trump tweeted: "The Fake News Award, those going to the most corrupt and biased of the Mainstream Media, will be presented to the losers on Wednesday, January 17th, rather than this coming Monday". But President Trump isn't one to be overshadowed, so he's getting in on the awards show action himself.

As you can see in the tweet above, the president is citing interest that "is far greater than anyone could have anticipated" as a possible reason for the date change.

Trump has repeatedly criticized multiple news outlets, including CNN and The New York Times, accusing them of inaccurate reporting and often invoking his signature "fake news" line. "Stay Tuned!", the group said in its tweet.

It also says the Trump campaign did not expect to win the U.S. election and Trump himself was "befuddled" by the result, that he was angry A-list stars snubbed his inauguration, and that he found the White House "scary".

Trump has fired back against author Michael Wolff and Bannon, calling Wolff a "total loser", and referring to Bannon as "Sloppy Steve". He added that the victor of such an award should get a "fake news trophy".

The president vented in late November that a contest should be held for the worst political coverage, excluding Fox News.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah ran an ad in the New York Times pushing itself to be given an award.
