CES 2018: Why China's Huawei Won't Be Signing a Deal with AT&T

Samsung loses China patent lawsuit against Huawei

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei won the first trial of a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics in China over a telecommunication standard patent. Huawei is suspected of having a role in Chinese espionage.

"We win the trust of the Chinese carriers, we win the trust of the emerging markets. and also, we win the trust of the global carriers, all the European and Japanese carriers".

Actually helping Huawei become a major player here in the States, however, may take more than a Lasso of Truth.

But Huawei's dominance is again stoking fears among Washington security and intelligence experts, who worry major USA carriers might be tempted to turn to the Chinese giant. The deal died after members of both the US Senate and House intelligence committees wrote to the FCC.

Although OnePlus has already made a name for itself for releasing more affordable Android flagship phones, its handsets are still pretty much under the radar in the U.S. This is because the best way to gain traction in the country is by selling phones through carriers, as pointed out by Android Police. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's consumer products division, addressed the void agreement at his CES keynote speech, in which he presented the Mate10 Pro for the US market. Those are hefty price tags that compete with the Pixel 2 XL, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and the iPhone X. Of course, these three devices are sold by carriers and can be bought on long-term plans, while the Mate cannot. It may be hard to find another United States mobile operator to carry its products.

Privately-held Huawei has denied any accusations that the company is controlled by the Chinese government, and said it has cooperated with investigations from the US government.

"Two years ago, you couldn't get equipment outside of the carriers", the executive said.

After the ruling, Huawei stated that respecting each other's intellectual property rights could promote innovation and develop the industry further.

Apple, the world's largest company by market capitalization, announced on Wednesday that the operation of its iCloud service in mainland China will be transferred to a state-owned firm called Guizhou-Cloud Big Data Industry Company from February 28 to comply with the country's cloud computing regulations.

Huawei perhaps could take a lesson or two from Apple in exploring the United States market.
