WhatsApp Introduces new Dedicated App for Businesses to Connect With Their Customers
For instance if you run a small online clothing company or have a local grocery store or small bakery, then WhatsApp Business app can then help you connect more efficiently with your customers. WhatsApp also mentioned in their official blog post that majority of small businesses in India and Brazil rely on WhatsApp.
It's completely separate to the standard version of WhatsApp, but it works in much the same manner - only its goal is connecting businesses and customers, rather than friends and family.
The new version of the app will let users have business profiles with information such as business description, email or store addresses, and website. There will also be access to message statistics so businesses can review what is working for them. For customers, you'll be able to easily use the full range of advanced features that WhatsApp offers when interacting with businesses. That said, WhatsApp Business is also accessible through WhatsApp Web, and, for those unaware, it is actually a standalone app which means you can have both regular WhatsApp as well as WhatsApp Business on the same phone.
The new business accounts are aimed at firms that receive a high volume of WhatsApp messages and need help keeping up, WhatsApp Chief Operating Officer Matt Idema said. By WhatsApp's own admissions, over 80% of small businesses in these markets use WhatsApp and it makes no sense not to launch the app there first.
Average users will be able to block any number, including businesses, as well as report them as spam.
After being established on the network, businesses are free to use a variety of tools provided on the app, including smart messaging tools. Verified business accounts were marked with a green checkmark. Messaging Tools are integrated to make it faster for businesses to respond to the common questions received from customers.
The app is now only available on Android and is free to download. We'll also see greeting messages and even away messages launch, so if you're busy and can't get to your WhatsApp messages right away, customers will know that they aren't being ignored.
The news comes as the free app tries to implement a monetisation plan, to funnel money back to parent organisation Facebook Inc.
