“Padmaavat”: special screening ahead of release

Padmaavat UK release date trailer and cast- the controversial film about Padmavati

The controversy over Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat seems to have helped the film's box office collections, with the movie comfortably crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in just four days since its release.

Interestingly, neither Goliyon Raasleela Ram Leela nor Bajirao Mastani were his highest openers but Gunday (Rs 16.12 crore), followed by Ram Leela (Rs 16 crore).

According to, Padmaavat minted Rs 30 crores on Sunday.

The figures come at a time when several multiplex owners in the country had shown reluctance to screen the film in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa. Padmaavat starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh is casting its magic at the ticket windows with each passing day.

Taran Adarsh mentions that one of the reasons behind Padmaavat's spectacular collection in North America could be due to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's huge fan-base.

He further said, "I would say that this time is not for such things, Padmaavat has been representing the whole film industry. I think I am very fortunate", said Deepika, who was overwhelmed with joy. So when Shahid Kapoor joined them for the magnum opus, he felt left out in the beginning.

The success of films like Judwaa 2, Golmaal Again, Tiger Zinda Hai and now Padmaavat has now yet again demonstrated that "desi" affairs with grass root appeal is bound to bring audiences in theaters.

Made on a mega budget of 200 crores, Padmaavat need to earn at least 200 crores to be called a hit at the box office.

"So, their expression was like, 'Is she our daughter?' I saw their expression and they were both brimming and glowing with pride". "So let their movie run in peace".

When asked why he chose to take the role, he said: "There are some films that are very close to your heart and then there are some films which you have to experience with other people".
