LIVE: Go Red For Women

National Wear Red Day: Why do we wear red?

If it seems like just about everyone is sporting something red today, don't worry, you're not going insane. Heart disease is often generally associated with men, but cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women.

According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular diseases, which includes stroke, claim the life of a woman about every 80 seconds. "It's only fitting that our faculty and staff should lead by example, in this case by supporting the American Heart Association's invaluable efforts to tackle a major health concern among women".

Not only does Wear Red Day raise awareness, but it also serves as a way to raise funds to support research, education, and community programs to benefit women who have been affected by heart disease.

February 2 is Wear Red Day, which kicks off American Heart Month.

It's the first Friday in February, and you know what that means.it's National Wear Red Day! By going red, you're showing your commitment to raising awareness of heart disease and leading a healthier life.

The No. 1 cause of death in IN, and the country, is heart disease. All proceeds go to Go Red for Women.

Since 2004, the retailer has raised a staggering $65 million for the American Heart Association's signature campaign!
