Donald Trump says newly released Federal Bureau of Investigation text messages are 'BOMBSHELLS'

Rep. Peter King: The FBI Duped FISA Court to Obtain Warrants Against Trump Officials

UPDATE [2/7/18, 4:20 p.m. EST]: According to FBI associates of Lisa Page and Peter Strzok who spoke with the Wall Street Journal, the 2016 text messages "show preparation to brief Barack Obama about Russia's interference in that year's election. not, as a Republican senator suggested, meddling by the then-president in the federal Hillary Clinton email investigation".

Other text messages in the Senate report, some of which have been previously released, show Strzok and Page expressing strongly negative opinions about Donald Trump and the prospect he'd become president.

When cross-referencing the timeline of the FBI's investigation into Clinton's private email server during her time as secretary of state, CNN found that September 2, the day the text was sent, landed squarely between when the bureau closed the probe in July and re-opened it in late September.

The text message about Obama's desire "to know everything we're doing" meant that Obama wanted "to know what they're doing to try to stop Trump", Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said Wednesday on Fox News' "Fox & Friends". Senate investigators told Fox News this text raises questions about President Obama's personal involvement in the Clinton email investigation. "Figure I need to brush up on Watergate".

"These texts raise questions about the FBI's retention of records associated with its investigation".

Some of Strzok and Page's texts have drawn concern over what looks like more than general anti-Trump sentiment.

In his passion against Virginians who voted against then FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe's wife, Jill McCabe for a state Senate seat, Strzok couldn't even get the plural of hillybilly right, calling them "ignorant hillbillys" (sic). Obama stressed that there was "a strict line" that he never crossed.

Strzok and Page's also provide some insights into their handling of the Clinton and Trump investigations.

The texts have raised questions about Mr. Strzok's independence on both cases.

"The last text is from Page to Strzok, comes on June 23, 2017 when she wrote, "Please don't ever text me again".

"I'm sure an honest answer will come out of that meeting " Strzok wrote, referring to the Putin-Obama encounter. Page had texted to Strzok.

In a May 19, 2017 text message, Strzok appeared to express hesitation about joining Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation team because he had a "gut sense" that "there's no big there there". It had no proof that the FBI is biased against Trump, no proof of abuse of surveillance powers by the FBI, and no proof that the investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation is fundamentally flawed.

He was also flummoxed earlier in the investigation by what he said was the "worst news" - that a computer specialist had used wiping software to delete email messages, making it, he said, potentially "much harder" to recover what they needed.
