Freezing rain warning for SD&G

UPDATE: Bouts of snow followed by freezing rain Sunday

Halton and much of southern Ontario is in for a blast of freezing rain starting tomorrow morning (Sunday).

"The freezing rain will change to rain tonight as temperatures rise above the freezing mark".

Snow is expected stop overnight, followed by more snow possible on Sunday.

The rain is expected to persist for several hours today, but ice accumulation is expected to be limited to a few millimetres, as the rain "should be fairly light". "The snow associated with this system will reach Central Quebec this afternoon and eastern areas later in the evening".

All residents are urged to be cautious when outdoors, as surfaces such as roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy and slippery. "Slow down driving in slippery conditions", Environment Canada said.

The freezing rain will change to flurries in the afternoon or early evening.
