Google this week announced a new payment service that unifies Android Pay and Google Wallet into one entity. But Google Pay does not do everything Google Wallet used to do - or at least, not yet. Google Wallet allowed users to send money back and forth to friends and family like the popular payment app Venmo. However, for the moment, that option continues to be a part of Google Wallet, which has been rebranded as Google Pay Send.
As Google's VP of Product Management for Payments, Pali Bhat, told me, the team really wanted to make it extremely easy to get started with Google Pay and use the service to pay for goods online and in the real world - and to do so with as little friction as possible.
In the USA and the UK, Google Pay and Google Pay Send will completely merge "within the next few months", when the ability to send and request money comes to the former. Many smartphones are yet to receive Android Oreoupdate, but that doesn't stop the flow of Android P feature leaks and the latest one is going to make a lot of users happy.
Just to recall, Android's Doze function restricts background app's access to network and CPU-intensive services.
A couple of months back, Google introduced a brand new mobile payments app exclusive to India. Among the places that already support the app are public transit systems in Kiev, London, and Portland, Oregon, with more locations coming soon, they said. It will work similar to how Android Pay worked, meaning you can use your payment information that is stored across all kinds of websites and apps.
If you still need to add your reward or loyalty cards to GPay, you have the ability if you did not link those previously.
There must be a flaw or a problem with the Play Store and other applications from Google as we can't think of anything else that can explain it. Let us know in the comment section below.
If you would like to check out GPay, you can download the app right now through the Play Store.
