Alcatel wants to bring iPad-like features at an insanely low cost
These new Alcatels also come with Kids Mode, a separate launcher that allows you to set time limits on tablet use to ensure kids don't get sore eyes and don't overdoze on mobile games. Confusingly enough, the brand new phone debuted by Alcatel that's running the new system is also called the Android Go, or if you want to get technical, the Android Oreo (Go Edition), and unfortunately for eagerly-waiting Android fans out there, reviews are lukewarm thus far. There's a slightly inferior quad-core MediaTek processor, as well as a fingerprint sensor on the rear and the same facial recognition features on board.
Meanwhile, the company has launched two Android 8.1 Oreo operating system based tablets with 7 and 10 inch IPS screens. The device comes with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies.
RAM measures in at 2GB and the phone's processor is MT6739 quad-core silicon. Why 18:9 instead of 2:1?
The Alcatel 1T 7 and Alcatel 1T 10 tablets are one the affordable tablets running Android 8.1 Oreo. Under the hood is the 1.5GHz MediaTek MTK6750 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
Other features includes a rear fingerprint sensor, Face Key facial recognition, and Type-C with support for fast charging.
Talking about the Alcatel 3, it comes with glossy finish body with curved edges.
On the camera front, there is a 12MP + 2MP dual rear cameras and a 5MP single selfie camera.
Alcatel 5 is one of the most expensive smartphones the company has announced at MWC 2018. At the top end is the 3V, which sports a 6-inch 2K resolution screen, with a dual camera setup that's created to take portrait mode style shots. Nearly all fingerprint sensors can store up to five fingerprints at maximum. Just like the 1x, the phone also includes 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded, though in this case up to 128GB. The Alcatel 1X with single SIM and dual SIM support will be available in April for Euro 100 and Euro 110 respectively. There's 16GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot if you need more storage, a 2,460mAh battery powering the whole package, and a fingerprint sensor on select models. The 7-inch variant will have a resolution of 1024×600 and go on sale for €70 in spring while the 10-inch variant will go on sale for €100 with 1280×800 resolution.
The local pricing and availability of all these devices will be revealed at a later date.
