Brighton Add to Wenger's Woes as Arsenal Lose Once Again

Brighton pile the pressure on Wenger as Arsenal lose again

Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere in action with Brighton's Glenn Murray

Having been outplayed in back to back 3-0 defeats by Manchester City, first in the League Cup final and then, four days later, in the league fixture at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners badly needed a lift ahead of Thursday's Europa League meeting with AC Milan.

And Merson believes the end is nigh for the Frenchman, who has been in charge at Arsenal since 1996.

Arsenal could find it hard to attract top players to the club under the current regime, according to Ian Wright. They're hanging their manager out to dry.

And the second goal didn't see the Czech Republic keeper cover himself in glory either as Brighton forward Glenn Murray headed the ball under his body in the 37th minute to double the hosts' advantage.

The 35-year-old, who is now out injured, watched the newly promoted side produce an improbable 2-1 victory to improve their hopes of beating the drop. However, if their Brighton performance is anything to go by, Wenger's men are not guaranteed a win against any top flight team.

"I feel Arsenal have gone".

The Gunners keeper saved a good Pascal Gross shot as Brighton threatened again, with Dunk and Duffy both heading over from promising positions as the visiting defence failed to deal with routine set-pieces.

"They need to do it quickly because I think it will be tough to attract players to the club under the current regime".

In Sunday's match at Brighton, 29-year-old Armenia midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan started for Arsenal, and he was on the pitch for 83 minutes.

This tally is more than the likes of Serie A side Benevento who have the worst defence in Europe's top five leagues, conceding 60 goals.
