Damarious Randall to Cleveland

Report: Packers to trade Damarious Randall to Browns for QB DeShone Kizer

Multiple sources are reporting that the Green Bay Packers are trading cornerback Damarious Randall to the Cleveland Browns for second year quarterback DeShone Kizer.

The Cleveland Browns are continuing to make moves as the new league year approaches. He's the compensation to Green Bay for the trade that will send cornerback Damarious Randall to Cleveland. "Unclear if picks are also involved", Rapoport tweets. The teams also swapped picks in the fourth and fifth rounds, meaning the Packers moved to the top of those rounds.

Not only was accuracy an issue, but turnovers also added to the Browns' problems.

The Browns took the Packers to overtime in their meeting, and Kizer's potentially game-winning touchdown throw was foiled when linebacker Clay Matthews hit his arm as he was about to throw. It didn't help that he was constantly under pressure, being sacked 38 times. Kizer himself retained the starting job in Cleveland for all but one game as a rookie previous year, tossing a league-leading 22 interceptions and completing only 54 percent of his passes.

Kizer should slide in as Green Bay's backup quarterback.

Jackson fully expected Kizer to struggle in his first year and those fears played out week after week. He threw for 47 touchdowns, just 19 interceptions and over 5,800 yards in two seasons with Notre Dame in 2015 and 2016.

He failed, but while he and the Browns slid toward ignominy, Kizer never complained, pointed fingers or made excuses. McCarthy stood by him, however, and the coach's patience seemingly paid off as Randall bounced back and played well in the weeks that followed. For Kizer, it will be nice to get a fresh start.
