Marvel Chief: 'We absolutely' Will Make 'Black Panther' Sequel

Joaquin Phoenix

After just three weeks, Marvel's Black Panther is already the 9th biggest domestic film of all-time. Marvel, we'll be waiting for the premiere date! Black Panther just passed that particular film on the global box office level as of yesterday, as well.

A Black Panther sequel is confirmed. Feige has also indicated that the studio is hopeful that director Ryan Coogler will return for a sequel, although it's unknown whether talks between the two have yet begun. "In terms of 'Black Panther, ' no studio can say again, 'Oh, black movies don't travel, overseas interest will be minimal'". While he wouldn't go into specifics, he did reveal that Marvel has "ideas and a pretty solid direction" on where they want to take the second movie.

I think there's lots of potential. "It's a balance between leaving people wanting more and then giving them too much", he said. And as you can see, I am not dead!

"I will say just the notion of having what, frankly, most other companies with [intellectual property] have all along, which is access to all of their characters, that would be fun".

Only four other Marvel movies have grossed over a billion dollars - The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War. Let us know in the comments down below! Earlier this week, a new report came out indicating that Disney is already high on "Black Panther's" prospects, with one of its top executives confirming their intention to launch a "For Your Consideration" campaign for the film.

The last time a superhero movie won an Academy Award was in 2017 when Suicide Squad won the Best Makeup and Hairstyling award, which was given to Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini, and Christopher Nelson. Likewise, the films rights to Namor have been in question, with Universal also holding rights to that character for a time. With this mindset, I made sure I wouldn't miss the opportunity to see this movie, even if it meant trekking out to a small theater in Sandy with almost a foot of snow piled up on the ground. Of course not. It means the movies after that will be changed.
