Golden State Warriors vs San Antonio Spurs: Stephen Curry injures ankle, won't return

Steph Curry Went To The Locker Room After His Rolling His Ankle Against The Spurs (UPDATE)

Curry did not get on the plane postgame with the Warriors to fly up to Portland for Friday night's contest, nor will he join the team in Minnesota for a weekend game against the Timberwolves. Steph Curry went down with an ankle injury in the first quarter.

Then Kerr walked back to the Warriors' locker room, where team trainer Chelsea Lane informed him of the change in plans: She would hang back in the Bay Area to work with Curry.

If Curry keeps playing the way he is, this will probably come down to the last game of the season. The Spurs entered the season with hopes of dethroning the Warriors as Western Conference champions.

At the end of the night the collectively hot hands of the Trail Blazers were too much for the Warriors who lost 125-108 in Portland, a night after "emptying the clip" against the San Antonio Spurs.

On the season, he is averaging 26.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists. Having Steph Curry and Klay Thompson on the court is more important than another home playoff game.

Durant's 3-pointer and a jumper gave Golden State a 77-73 lead with 4:01 left in the third. The Warriors ensured team balance. Nearly every game features Jekyll and Hyde sequences wherein the team builds a lead only to quickly squander it by missing successive shoots, turning the ball over and giving up fast break points.

Warriors guard Steve Kerr acknowledges he is concerned about health, but not to the point to concede the West's top seed by resting guys.

Midway through the second quarter, though, the team announced that Curry wouldn't be making a comeback later Thursday evening.

"I actually like when we have to sit somebody", Kerr said. With Jimmy Butler still out, the Timberwolves needed more from Andrew Wiggins who finished with just 13 points on six of 21 shooting.

Russell Westbrook flirted with his 19th triple-double for the season, finishing with a team-high 27 points, eight rebounds and a game-high nine assists, as the Thunder snapped a two-game losing streak with a dominating 115-87 win over Phoenix.

Next up for Golden State is a trip to Minnesota on Sunday. The Warriors got the win 110-107 - their seventh in a row.
