Carragher, one of Britain's best-known football pundits, has been suspended by Sky after footage emerged of him spitting through his auto window at a 14-year-old girl who was goading him about Liverpool's 2-1 defeat at Manchester United.
The former Liverpool defender was arguing with a rival fan when he took aim at the man, who was taunting him about United beating the Reds 2-1 at Old Trafford. The fan claimed that she felt bad to have someone spit on her face for absolutely nothing, her father said "a bit of banter" with the former defender turned ugly after he mentioned the 2-1 scoreline but insisted that he should have noticed his daughter who was sitting on the passenger seat.
He apologised again on Sky News on Monday afternoon.
"It's just that moment of madness for four or five seconds. I'm sorry. I'll apologise again today properly".
Some people may or may not like me before this incident but hopefully going forward I feel I can show the real me - because I don't think that's a representation of me.
Jamie Carragher met with Sky Sports bosses in London on Monday, when he learned he was being suspended. There is no doubt what I have done is disgusting and I apologise for it.
"No excuses he's made a big mistake", Neville wrote on Twitter. I wish she wasn't involved.
However, unofficial Sky News insider Lee Satchell has revealed that there was another former footballer who rang in two give his two cents on the matter.
He said: "I called the family, obviously they were upset and disappointed last night".
What the future holds for Carragher as a Sky Sports pundit remains to be seen, with the general public very much divided over whether he should keep his job or not.
There were calls for the ex-England worldwide to lose his role as a top TV pundit, and Sky Sports confirmed later on Monday that he had been suspended from his duties. We would like to hear him about it and hear what happened.
The girl's 38-year-old mum expressed her anger at Carragher, who has a daughter of his own, for spitting on the girl, calling it "the lowest of the low". Your fans, people who have looked up to you, what do you say to them.
