Apple ARKit

For augmented reality, ARKit has been improved to allow AR apps to extend the mixed-world experience to vertical surfaces like walls and doors. AR support is also updated with 50% better resolution through camera and auto-focus. Currently, it supports more than 40 health systems in the US.

Apple's Business Chat feature in iMessage will let you chat directly with businesses.

The ARKit developer framework has been upgraded in iOS 11.3, and improvements are impressive, especially considering how recently version 1.0 launched. To try it out, search for a business in Maps, Safari, Search, or via Siri, and you may see the option to text the company. These conversations can be continued on Apple Watch or Mac.

Also new is a Health Records section inside the Health app, giving patients quick access to their medical records (from supported doctors and care centers) directly on their iPhone. Health data is encrypted and protected with a passcode.

A software update released on Thursday will mean users are shown extra information about how personal information is shared with Apple, such as the App Store and iTunes.

The headliner of the latest iOS update from Apple is the new battery features, which give users more control over how the device handles battery usage. Apple also says that you won't see this icon and information pop-up with every new feature; it's just when Apple needs your information to enable services and personalization. This setting is available on iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Owners of older devices can now disable a feature that slows down their iPhone to prevent a sudden shutdown.

Another new feature called Business Chat will let you communicate with companies via the Messages app on your iPhone or iPad.

As the Apple blogosphere has noted, the Music Videos remodel was supposed to be included in iOS 11.3, meaning its full-on release should be arriving soon.

The new "Music Videos" category is tucked in the "Browse" panel, and is now showcasing a couple of Apple Music exclusives and an Apple-curated "Today's Video Hits" playlist.

If you've been mourning the loss of MTV's near-constant influx of music videos, you're in luck: Apple Music now puts music videos front and center.
