Joshua vs Parker: Highlights of Anthony Joshua's win over Joseph Parker
04 April 2018, 12:43 | Kenneth Drake
GETTYAnthony Joshua will fight in front of more than 75,000 people on Saturday
Parker put his WBO belt on the line in Cardiff but he walked away empty-handed as WBA and IBF champion Joshua prevailed by unanimous decision on Saturday.
It's the biggest fight in boxing at the moment, with the victor becoming the first four-belt world heavyweight champ. "Everyone is saying it for us", Parker's promoter David Higgins told Sky Sports. But, Parker won't be a pushover in the ring.
"We're not satisfied", Joshua said, "but one step at a time".
But the CompuBox stats suggest Parker's problem - no doubt influenced by Joshua's longer reach - was precision. Joshua was perceived to have been tiring, per The Telegraph, when he claimed the fight to give Takam only the second knockout loss on his 35-4-1 record.
Minutes earlier, there were boos for Joseph Parker when he came up on the screen.
It's not the first time Hearn has spoken of the difficulties in dealing with Wilder's people, and it likely won't be the last.
According to the Telegraph's Gareth Davies on Talksport, the ultimate goal is a two-fight deal between the two world champions.
He wasn't quite good enough on the night against a fighter in Joshua who keeps surprising with his ability to improve.
Parker began to cut something of a frustrated figure, and the fight's pattern seemed well set by the third round as Joshua continued to make the most of his reach advantage, although there was a concerning moment when the pair clashed heads before Joshua banked another round. "Joshua? Stop playing, and pick up the phone!"
On several occasions, the referee got himself between the fighters when most officials would have allowed them to fight their way out of the exchanges.
But he had a go again at Joshua who he is eager to face if he can get his own comeback complete. Eventually, Ali moved onto the front foot to take the fight by knockout in the eighth round. Parker has never been stopped and being taken the distance was always on the cards.
That has brought Joshua to the attention of the big-money players in the states - although the Brit did say after defeating Parker that he wasn't interested.
Among the eight fights on the undercard in Cardiff is the WBA bantamweight championship bout between Ryan Burnett and Venezuela's Yonfrez Parejo.
'We're not blaming the ref. Kev [Barry] tried to communicate with the ref and he didn't really speak English.
