Why Ravens Will Sign Quarterback Robert Griffin III
05 April 2018, 12:29 | Ken Black
Baltimore Ravens sign former Cleveland Browns QB Robert Griffin III
The Baltimore Ravens have reached agreement on a 1-year deal with quarterback Robert Griffin III, whose once-promising National Football League career grinded to a halt two years ago. The Redskins cut Griffin in 2016, and he signed with the Cleveland Browns, but only played in five games that season.
Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said on Wednesday: "He came in last week, worked out".
"Robert came in, had a really good workout, looked good throwing the ball, was in very good shape".
Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh is optimistic about the signing; saying the deal was a bargain and that it improved the team.
The Baltimore Ravens agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the free-agent quarterback late Tuesday.
An ACL injury at the end of that rookie campaign portended the injury struggles to come for RGIII.
Griffin signed a two-year deal with the Browns in 2016, and began the year as the starter, but once again was taken down by an injury (shoulder).
"Griffin is seemingly happy for the chance as well, tweeting, "#PlayLikeARaven". During that season, he quarterbacked Cleveland to its only victory, a 20-17 win over the San Diego Chargers in the second-to-last week of the season.
The Ravens signing RGIII shouldn't preclude Baltimore from possibly drafting a young signal-caller this year.
Over the course of his four seasons in the NFL, Griffin has appeared in 42 games, 40 of which he started.
It's a new start for Griffin, who will still have to battle for a roster spot in the Charm City.

Overwatch Uprising Teaser Hints at New Event Name
Blackwatch was the covert operations arm of Overwatch before it was shut down and suspended for suspicious activity. The skins for the Uprising event previous year were pretty sweet, I was definitely partial to the Mercy loot.
