Takeaways: What Drives the Wage Gap?
Creative Assembly, Codemasters, Traveller's Tales, and Jagex also pay women slightly over 20% less than men.
The pay gap between genders in the United Kingdom and beyond is well-documented and persists, in large part, due to the "motherhood penalty", women's salary negotiating tactics, and employer bias. However, when all of its United Kingdom business was taken into consideration, it paid women on average 2% more than men. However, when compensable factors such as experience, industry and job level are taken into account, women earn 97.8 cents for every dollar earned by their male peers for doing the same work (i.e. the "controlled" pay gap). The figures highlight that women are often under-represented in higher-paying roles, which is a big reason for the headline-grabbing numbers.
By contrast women employees of EI's fully managed Bermondsey pub chain are paid seven per cent less than men. It showed that, of the highest-paid employees in 2016-2017, just under a third were women.

Sucheta Nadkarni, professor and director of the Wo+Men's Leadership Centre at Cambridge Judge business school, says that - despite flaws - the figures do indicate men are paid more than women on average. The gap is wider when it comes to year-end discretionary bonuses - women at Goldman receive average bonuses that are 72 percent lower than male employees. Only 30 per cent of employers published an explanation of the causes of their pay gap, and Close the Gap said that many of these were "superficial in their analysis".
The data set revealed that local newspaper group North Wales News Media fared the worst, with 85.2 percent of men paid more than women.
The gender pay gap happens where companies or organisations employ more highly paid men than women and is not the same as having unequal pay, which has been unlawful since 1970.
In line with the guidelines, more than 9,000 employers were obliged to disclose their gender pay gap. KFC, McDonald's, and Starbucks reported zero pay gap.
The disparity of wages that exist within most fashion businesses was further underscored by the figures produced by many brands and retailers.
In Scotland, the SNP Government has a proud track record in equality issues - for example ensuring greater pay transparency, by lowering the threshold for listed public authorities to report their gender pay gap and publish equal paystatements.
A charity spokeswoman said that it is committed to reducing its gender pay gap, but that many job roles in the organisation did not appeal to men. By mid-career, men are 70% more likely to be in executive roles than women, and by late career, men are 142% more likely to be in VP or C-suite roles.
The average gap - or percentage difference between the average male salary and the average female salary - across all companies that submitted details stood at 12 percent.
Nadkarni, who has researched gender diversity in senior management in her work, believes gender balance in the boardroom may explain a smaller gender pay gap.
