Lots Of Changes In Latest FIFA Rankings Announced

Ghana surprisingly moved up three places to the 51st position of the latest Federation Internationale de Football Association world ranking released on Thursday for the month of April despite being inactive during the worldwide break.The Black Stars were not engaged in friendlies but their total points 603 ensured they moved up.

Nigeria will also play pre-world cup friendly matches against Democratic Republic of Congo on May, 28, before playing England and the Czech Republic on June, 2, and 5 respectively.

In Africa, the Super Eagles are now in the sixth position. The Egyptians dropped two places from their position in March.

On the continent, Tunisia, who are Africa's number one, climbed nine spots up to 14th in the world.

The next rankings will be published on May 17, 2018. Iceland are now 22nd dropping four spots from their 18th position in March.

The last World Cup expansion was introduced back in 1998, when the 24-team tournament was increased to the current 32-team event, with 13 slots now available for European nations and a 14th added this summer as Russian Federation are hosts.

Five-time World Cup winners Brazil remained second in the rankings while Belgium rose two places to third.

Switzerland is sixth, France seventh, Spain eight, Chile ninth and Poland dropped to tenth after losing to Nigeria.
