Registration of home-based workers remains elusive

Continuing with its tradition to celebrate specific days and events, search engine giant Google on Tuesday celebrated the International Labour Day with a very interesting doodle on its homepage to mark the victory of workers' movement.

Initially, this date was taken as the ideal opportunity to reflect on the working conditions of salaried workers and to remember those who lost their lives fighting for this cause. Labour Day is known as "Kamgar Din" in Hindi, "Karmikara Dinacharane" in Kannada,"Karmika Dinotsavam in Telugu, "Kamgar Divas" in Marathi, "Uzhaipalar dhinam" in Tamil, and "Thozhilaali Dinam" in Malayalam". Labour Day is celebrated in the USA in September. Nepal has marked the celebration of the Day with the Workers Movement (Majdoor Andolan) held at Biratnagar in 2007 BS, some 68 years ago. With the rise of industrialization, the labour class was exploited and often had to work for 15 hours a day.

May 1 is celebrated as a Labor Day and is an official holiday in a number of countries such as Germany, Austria, Mexico, Thailand, Russia.

Why is Labour Day associated with May Day?

Meanwhile, it is also important for working class Indian citizens to be aware of the laws and acts that regulate the service sector in the country. This does not mean that work was done everywhere 8 hours, it was not widespread but the truth is that the claim of eight hours will be the only issue that will unite all the workers of the world, including different political ideologies.

Separately, the Netherlands Trade Union Confederation had also organized a gathering of workers. The date May 1 was selected to commemorate the aftermath of a bombing at a labour protest against the police in Chicago in 1886.

Authorities also barred access to the city's main shopping street, the pedestrianised Istiklal Avenue, which has in the past been the scene of protest marches.

Both socialism and the creation of a new era can only be achieved through hard work, he said, expressing expectations for the model workers to make new achievements and inspire others by demonstrating their passion, motivation and persistence.
