CBS was warned about Charlie Rose sexual misconduct
04 May 2018, 10:50 | Erma Lawrence
27 more women accuse talk show host Charlie Rose of sexual harassment
More than two dozen additional women have come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against former CBS News anchor Charlie Rose, and the Washington Post says managers were alerted about his questionable behavior on at least three occasions.
"14 CBS News employees and 13 who worked with him elsewhere - said Rose sexually harassed them", the paper reports.
The latest allegations follow at least 12 other women accusing Rose, who was sacked from his "CBS This Morning" gig in November, of harassing or groping them.
Rose's response to the new allegations was delivered in a one-sentence email to the Washington Post, with Rose writing, "Your story is unfair and inaccurate".
NBC, which is now under fire for its mishandling of Joy Reid's false hacking claims and three allegations of misconduct against Tom Brokaw, had no comment when asked about an incident when Rose, then working for NBC, allegedly exposed his penis to a woman in 1976. "I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize it was mistake".
Gayle King is speaking out about new sexual harassment allegations against her friend and former CBS This Morning co-host, Charlie Rose. Actor Kevin Spacey, producer Harvey Weinstein and comedian Louis C.K were accused of similar predatory behavior in light of the global Me Too Movement against sexual harassment. "People said what they wanted to you".
Marcy McGinnis, who was senior vice-president of news gathering at CBS News when she left in 2005, said she didn't know Rose but knew he had a reputation as a "ladies man".
A spokeswoman for NBC News declined to comment on the allegation to The Post.
The 76-year-old continued, "It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior. We offer employees discretion and fairness, and we take swift action when we learn of unacceptable behavior", the network said.
"That said, we can not corroborate or confirm numerous situations described", the statement continues.
Annmarie Perr told The Post that while she was a news clerk at CBS in 1986, Rose, who was filling in as an anchor on "CBS Morning News", asked her if she liked sex and how often she had sex.
Plantiff Beth Homan-Ross alleged that Rose would not only make comments about her body, but would be naked when she dropped off material at his house or would invite her to come into his bathroom while he showered. "This other personality would come through, and the groping would happen", she told the Post. Rose's PBS show has been canceled, and he was sacked from CBS News. "We are not done with this process".
The news of Rose's firing was revealed last November in an interview memo sent to staffers by CBS News president David Rhodes, who stated that 'there is absolutely nothing more important, in this or any organization, than ensuring a safe, professional workplace'.
The incident last year involved a 24-year-old CBS staffer named Brooks Harris.

Why Facebook asked users if posts contained hate speech
We've reached out to Facebook for comment on this unusual hate speech dialog box, and will update this article when we hear back. People saw the question appear on innocuous posts, including one from The Bad Apple bar in Chicago talking about menu items.
