Boom. Come over here, - Trump comments on 2015 terrorist attack in Paris

Trump Says London Knife Violence Turned Hospital Into War Zone

US President Donald Trump speaks at the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum during the NRA Annual Meeting & Exhibits at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center

The comments provoked anger in both France and Britain.

One would think the president would attempt to mend bridges ahead of the trip, but on Friday, as he addressed the National Rifle Association convention in Dallas, Trump said a knife crime epidemic in London had caused a hospital in the center of the city to become "like a war zone".

He talked of how the gun-free status of patrons allowed the killers to slowly and deliberately kill at will. Trump said, "They took their time and gunned them down one by one".

The French foreign ministry issued a statement Saturday after Trump's comments.

He also mimicked the assailants shooting their weapons, saying: "Boom". The friendship between our two peoples will not be tainted by disrespect and excessiveness.

French trauma: Gunmen loyal to "Islamic State" stormed multiple locations in Paris, including outside the national stadium, cafes, bars, and the Bataclan club, in November 2015. "And it would have been a whole different story", Trump said. "It can instead facilitate the planning of this type of attack".

The entire world was left teary-eyed and appalled when a series of coordinated terror attacks shook Paris on 13 November 2015. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The controversial United States leader suggested that looser gun laws could have helped prevent deadly attacks in Paris in 2015, and also linked a wave of knife crime in London to a handgun ban.

"They don't have guns".

The Los Angeles Times reports that Trump referenced the attack as proof that gun control does not control bad people.

"Yes, that's right, they don't have guns, they have knives, and they say there's..." London hasn't been used to that. They're getting used to it.

British officialdom did not push back.

Valls wrote on Twitter "indecent and incompetent".

It's unclear what hospital Trump was referring to. The director of London's major trauma system said "to suggest guns are part of the solution [to combat knife crime] is ridiculous".

U.S. President Donald Trump looks up during a meeting about healthcare at the White House in Washington, U.S., March 13, 2017.

To a cheering pro-gun crowd at the NRA convention, Trump said that his administration is fighting hard to protect the Second Amendment.

His comments did not go down well with France and it sparked a massive outrage. It also incorrectly stated when Charlie Falconer was a UK Cabinet minister. The comments came from the French foreign ministry.
